Job Description
We are looking for a driven and versatile Lead R&D Engineer to join our innovative team in Hyvinkää. This role is ideal for someone passionate about emerging technologies in IoT, AI, and mechatronics, and capable of managing full-cycle R&D projects — from ideation and planning to design, prototyping, and testing.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of smart systems, support safety-critical applications, and lead the integration of advanced hardware and software systems. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact solutions that shape the future of connected technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of R&D projects in areas such as IoT, AI, and predictive maintenance.
- Conduct system-level analysis and evaluate complex mechatronic systems.
- Design mechanical and electromechanical components and systems.
- Build and test functional prototypes for proof-of-concept validation.
- Evaluate and test sensor technologies including door sensors.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 13849.
- Integrate software and hardware systems, ensuring smooth operation and performance.
- Apply cybersecurity and connectivity best practices (e.g., ISO 27001) to IoT systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software, electronics).
- Implement Agile, Lean, or SAFe practices to optimize development cycles.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience (7+ years) in leading R&D projects.
- Strong understanding of system analysis and evaluation techniques.
- Expertise in mechatronics and mechanical system design.
- Knowledge of functional safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 13849).
- Practical experience with door sensors and industrial sensor applications.
- Knowledge of IoT connectivity, protocols, and cybersecurity practices.
- Proficiency in software development, particularly in Python and C++.
- Experience in designing and building functional prototypes.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate hardware and software components.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with mobile robotics or automation systems.
- Familiarity with Agile, Lean, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environments.
- Strong self-management and problem-solving capabilities.
- Background in the door industry or similar sectors.

- Location: Hyvinkää, Finland (Onsite – Tampere / Helsinki)
- Duration: 6 – 12 months (Full-time, 100% allocation)
- Start Date: 16 June 2025
